Maruti Suzuki Sales May 2025: Strong Export Growth and Steady Domestic Demand

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s largest automobile manufacturer, has announced its sales figures for May 2025, reporting a total of 180,077 units sold. This includes 138,690 units sold domestically, 10,168 units to other OEMs, and an impressive 31,219 units exported—highlighting robust performance across all segments.

3% Monthly Growth Reflects Market Strength

Compared to April 2025’s 174,551 units, Maruti Suzuki’s total sales rose by nearly 3%, showcasing strong customer demand, stable domestic performance, and efficient supply chain management.

Domestic Sales: Compact and Utility Vehicles Lead the Way

In the domestic market, the compact segment continues to be the cornerstone of Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio, with popular models like the Swift, Baleno, Dzire, WagonR, and Celerio collectively selling 61,502 units in May. Although this is a slight dip from April, it indicates steady consumer interest in Maruti’s core lineup.

  • Mini car sales (Alto, S-Presso) saw a decline to 6,776 units, down from 9,902 in April.
  • Van sales (Eeco) rose to 12,327 units, suggesting growing demand among family and commercial users.
  • The utility vehicle segment, comprising SUVs and MPVs such as the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and Fronx, delivered a strong performance with 54,899 units sold, reinforcing Maruti’s leadership in the SUV segment.

Exports Soar 80% – A Major Growth Highlight

The standout achievement in May was Maruti Suzuki’s export growth. With 31,219 units shipped abroad, up from 17,367 in April, the company recorded an 80% month-on-month increase in exports. This surge underscores rising global demand for Maruti Suzuki vehicles and reflects the brand’s expanding international presence.

Strong Outlook for FY 2025–26

With cumulative sales reaching 359,868 units in the first two months of FY 2025–26, compared to 342,640 units during the same period last year, Maruti Suzuki is on a strong growth trajectory. The company’s SUV dominance and booming export numbers position it well for continued success throughout the financial year.
