India’s Largest Renewable Energy Company Reaches New Heights

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has marked a major milestone by crossing 15,539.9 megawatts (MW) of installed renewable energy capacity, making it the largest in India and placing it among the top 10 global renewable energy independent power producers. This landmark achievement comes within just 15 months of hitting the 10,000 MW mark, highlighting AGEL’s rapid growth and aggressive execution strategy.

Leading India’s Green Revolution

AGEL’s installed portfolio comprises 11,005.5 MW of solar, 1,977.8 MW of wind, and 2,556.6 MW of hybrid (wind-solar) energy. With this, the company now contributes over 15% of India’s utility-scale solar installations and 12% of the country’s total solar and wind capacity. In FY25 alone, AGEL added 3,309 MW—the highest by any renewable player in India for a single year.

Khavda: Epicenter of Green Transformation

At the heart of AGEL’s expansion is the Khavda project in Gujarat. Already operational with 5,355.9 MW, it is poised to become the world’s largest renewable energy installation at 30,000 MW. Spanning 538 sq km—five times the size of Paris—this site will be visible from space and is a cornerstone of India’s goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Impact on Environment and Jobs

AGEL’s operations are not only massive in scale but also deeply impactful. The energy generated can power approximately 7.9 million households and light up 13 Indian states, including the entire northeast region. Their clean energy efforts offset around 28.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually—equal to removing 6.3 million cars from the road or planting over 1.3 billion trees. Furthermore, AGEL has created about 3,700 green jobs.

Industry Recognition and ESG Leadership

AGEL’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its ESG practices. It is ranked No. 1 in the NSE’s ESG ratings for the power sector and leads globally in the FTSE Russell ESG score for the Alternative Electricity subsector. The company’s portfolio is certified water positive, single-use plastic free, and zero waste-to-landfill.

Vision for 2030

Driven by the vision of Chairman Gautam Adani, AGEL aims to reach 50,000 MW by 2030. As India’s green energy leader, the company is well-positioned to drive the clean energy transition at scale, speed, and sustainability.
