Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) has successfully commissioned its first Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL 1) at its advanced Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha. This strategic addition marks a significant step in JSPL’s expansion into the coated steel market, enabling the production of high-quality galvanised and galvalume steel under its established brands—Jindal Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME.
Cutting-Edge Capabilities for Diverse Applications
The new CGL 1 facility is designed to process steel with thicknesses ranging from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths from 700 mm to 1400 mm. This precision-oriented setup supports a wide range of applications across several industries, including appliances, automotive, infrastructure, and construction. The facility’s advanced technology ensures uniform coating and consistent product quality.
Versatile Product Offerings
JSPL’s Jindal Panther Galvanised Products include a spectrum of full hard, soft, and skin-passed galvanised steels. These are widely used in manufacturing air conditioners, electrical panels, ducting systems, vehicle bodies, and silos. Additionally, they serve as base material for pre-painted galvanised iron (PPGI) applications.
Meanwhile, ZINKALUME Galvalume Products are coated with a unique alloy of aluminium, silicon, and zinc, offering superior corrosion resistance and heat durability. These are especially suitable for refrigerator backs, solar structures, fuel tanks, and PPGL (pre-painted galvalume) uses.
Tailored Solutions for the Industry
The plant will also cater to specialized needs with thinner HR galvanised coils for tube manufacturers, silos, and pre-engineered buildings. Furthermore, high-strength galvanised steel for automotive underbody applications adds to its value-driven portfolio.
Leadership Speaks
Expressing pride in the development, Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel, stated, “The commissioning of our first galvanising line at Angul reflects our unwavering focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions. Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME will redefine quality benchmarks in the industry.”
Future Growth Plans
Looking ahead, JSPL plans to augment its production capacity further. The Angul plant is set to add another 6 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) of crude steel capacity, bringing the total to 12 MTPA by the end of 2025. This expansion will position it among the largest single-location steel manufacturing facilities in India.
