Torrent Power Limited (TPL), one of India’s leading integrated power utilities, has taken a major strategic leap toward cleaner and more reliable energy. On June 2, 2025, the company announced a long-term Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with BP Singapore Pte. Limited, a subsidiary of global energy major bp, for the supply of up to 0.41 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The agreement will span from 2027 to 2036.

This deal strengthens Torrent Power’s commitment to clean energy, operational excellence, and aligns with India’s energy security and sustainability goals.

Torrent Power, part of the ₹45,000 crore Torrent Group, operates across the full power value chain—generation, transmission, and distribution. Torrent Power’s installed generation capacity stands at 4,838 MW, which includes:

  • 2,730 MW of gas-based power,
  • 1,746 MW from renewable sources, and
  • 362 MW of coal-based capacity.

The company is also working aggressively on renewable expansion projects totaling 3,154 MW, along with a 3,000 MW pumped storage project to enhance grid stability and manage peak demand.

Torrent Power delivers nearly 31 billion units of electricity annually, serving over 4.21 million customers across key regions such as:

  • Gujarat: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Dahej SEZ, and Dholera SIR

  • Uttar Pradesh: Agra
  • Union Territories: Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu
